can I test xbox with evox?

ok so I am thinking about getting a mod chip, I might not since I am sooo very inexpiernced with anything to do with mods. but just to make sue I can use the mod chip, is there a way I can use evox to connect to a xbox without a mod?

the xbox requires a mod chip to use any non official software and backups.
