i have a PS2 SCPH 39004 with a Magig V3.6 Mod Chip. it makes a lot of difficulties to boot DVD copies. Original DVD and copies of PS2 CD-R and PS one work fine. the technician told me it is necessary to adjust the laser. does anyone know if laser adjustment will solve this problem? Where can i find someone who can adjust it?
My burned DVD media are all right, they work fine in another PS2...

greetings from vienna!

Laser adjustment may solve the problem........

BUT....... What type of media are you using....???

Just because they work in another PS2 doesn't mean your PS2 will work with them also.....

i use traxdata -R, elta media -R , emtec -R, platinum +R and Sony -R and +R.
Burner is Sony DRU500A
platinum and sony are not working at all, but the are fine in other PS2.
the best media for my PS2 are ELTA. But they get read errors sometimes.
other media types like verbatim are not easy to find in vienna :(

yes i do.
the greatest problem is to boot the games. it needs a lot of attempts before the game is running.
sometimes it does not work at all, another day the same game works better...

Perhaps "Staub". Have you cleaned the lens with a cleaning disk (with brushes)?

i just wired up magic 3.1 to 37 pin plug the other week

my findings were 80% boot sucess on certain games on good media, on v7 and v6(both lasers read crap media with messiah2 installed), with messiah 2 they boot 100%

your older laser will decrease the boot rate is my guess,

give it clean as charlie suggested

my ps2 was a chritmas gift, and after 4 weeks i fixed a magic 3.5. i changed it to 3.6 because it was not working well.
3.6 seems to be better, except the problems i described.
do you think the laser could be dirty after a few weeks?
