I am buying a PS2 at the end of this month, and I would like to know the best tools for backing up my games as I buy them. I am getting the PS2 from EB, so I assume it would be the newest model, since they sell so many they must constantly restock. I have noticed that ritek dvd-r's seem to be the media of choice, but I dont know which burner is a good one to pick up. Also, I would like to know a good usb modchip, and the things neccesary to use it. Sorry if these questions get asked very often, but im new to this, and if I get a bad result from this, I sure as hell wont ask again in a few days.

As far as dvd burners go......... Either get the Pioneer A05, or the Sony DRU500A....

There isn't a "good" usb mod chip in my opinion......
You are much better off buying the Messiah 2 mod chip and having a pro put it in for you..... Or even better...... Buy a pre-modded PS2 w/Messiah 2 already installed.....

You will be MUCH happier with a "direct boot" chip.....

You will also need RecordNow Max for burning PS2 dvd based games, and Clone CD for PS2 cd based games....

Hope this is enough info to get you going in the right direction.:)

Know any good places to buy a pre-modded system with the chip? I looked at few sites but the prices were horrible.

I emailed mud and he said he was not selling them anymore, but offered to sell me a chip . So I ordered one from IGW . $10 bucks more .
