Hi, i´ve a dvd-r. If i burn a ps2 game whit the dvd-r, can i play this whitout a chip?
And one more question. Did somebody know, what is better DVD-R or DVD+R ? ? ?
Thanx for any helps
Technicaly you don't need a mod, but by doing this method you will bust your ps2, so yes, get a mod. -r is supported by more versions of ps2. v1-v4 will generally only play -r. v5-v8 play -r and +r. Check here (http://www.psx-paul.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ps2versionreference.htm) to see what version you have.

and why will this method bust my ps2? is that 100 % sure or not always ??
99.9% of the time it will bust your ps2. It involves cramming foreign devices into your disc tray, which will eventually lead to a busted ps2. It is a lot cheaper to buy a mod then it is to buy a new ps2.
What he didn't say is that no, you can't just boot the copy. You will have to PRY OPEN THE DISC TRAY WITH A SCREWDRIVER, and swap the discs.
Just buy a mod chip.

P.S. If your PS2 supports DVD+R, it's better because the reflectivity is higher, thus reducing wear on the extra-fragile PS2 laser unit.

what the mod chip is the best? and what did there cost?
Are it heavy to install the chip?
Messiah 2 is the best chip out.....
Its about $58 US dollars.......
Yes.... It is very difficult to install..... If your not very good at soldering, have someone who is do the install for you.... Its well worth the money....
