I just got my riteks, my messiah 2 installation, and downloaded prassi and recordmax now- Everytime i go to use the software to copy my original, the image process goes fine. When i get to the part where i burn to a disc, i keep getting the same error message- "disc is incompatible with this type of operation"- this is both on prassi and recordmax now- i used the tutorial posted here to no avail- Do i have to format my riteks??- could i have a bad batch of discs?? i am at a loss- by the way, i was successful in copying one game- vice city, but have a brand new hh 2004 game and cant copy it- please help, im desperate.
It would help if we knew what burner you had... and do you have the latest px engine update installed, 342 (ftp://eval.veritas.com/downloads/pro/exe/PxEngineUpdate342.exe)

sorry- i have a cyndene dvr 105- what are playstation engines,? dont know if i have the latest-
no, px engine is an extension to Record now max that adds dvd writer drive compatibility.
Sounds to me like u need to download the latest px engine from HERE!! (http://www.prassieurope.com/)
Install this and then check that u r using DVD-R discs and not DVD+R.
Can't see any other reason why u ain't burning away.

I downloaded the latest psx engine like you said- (for recordmax)- still, when i go to copy the game to an image file its fine- when i go to burn using my cendyn dvr 105, using a ritek dvd-r i get an error message- it says "please insert a blank cd" or "media does not support this type of operation"- im so upset at this point, i spent tons of money and cant get past this problem- i was able to backup only 1 game- vice city, with no problems- the ritek dvd-r is from a new cake i purchased from allmedia outlet- do you have any other solutions?, or have you heard anyone with this problem??- chris
You could have got a crap batch of Ritek or you need to upgrade your firmware. Try some different discs or upgrade your firmware if it isn't already.

how do i upgrade my firmware?- i just bought the cendyne 105 a month ago- does that matter?? ill also get some more discs today- is it possibly that some discs in the cake i bought were good and some bad- also i can backup dvds no problem using the same discs that didnt work for prassi and recordmax-
i didn't see any firmware for the 105 on the Cendyne site, but the Pioneer firmware might work. Try the new discs first though.

Just one more question as to the firmware update- you said to use the pioneer update firmware- i have a dvr-105, all of the updates are for a dvr 104- can u tell me which update to use or where i can find it- do i use the update for dvr 104 even if i have the dvr 105- thanx again-
Do NOT use the 104 firmware. You can get the Pioneer 105 firmware here (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/Pioneer/Files/AAR05v121.EXE)

hate to bother you again, but the link to the pioneer site doesnt open for me- i went to the pioneer site manually, but couldnt find the firmware for dvr 105- i found dvr 105s for dvd, but not under recordable drives for dvr 105. -
That link isn't working from the US Pioneer site. Here (http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/download.jsp?dir=/files/support/dvrup&filename=R5FW121.EXE) is the link from the Europe site.

Hey BigHap- and all others- thanx for all the help, it was much appreciated- i actually figured out the problem- i disregarded the very basics of copying- i was trying to backup hh baseball 2004 which just came out- i did not realize it was NOT a dvd based game, and therefore i could copy with clone cd- it turns out prassi and record max would not let me copy using dvd-r media and i had to use a regular 700 mb cd- thanx again- i noww return to copy bliss.
Remember, any game with a blue back is cd based. If for some odd reason you can't remember this, just look on the box and it will tell you if it's a cd or dvd.
