Had a version 4 Playstation 2 chipped with a NO SOLDER CHIP.
All was working fine untill recently i got several "DISC READ ERRORS"
Sony agreed it sounded like just wear and tear on the laser so i agreed to pay £65.00 for a replacement.
Replacement arrived today only to find out that they have sent me the oldest model a version 3!
Is there any NO SOLDER CHIPS i can buy in the U.K that will work with a version 3?
Also do you think its worth arguing with Sony?
Surely im right in saying that they should replace it with the same model or newer AND not an older model?
But if there is a NO SOLDER CHIP for a version 3 then i dont mind!

Panic over.................
After some frantic searching and E mail sending come up with this:
PS2 Flip Top Lid!
Allows you to play PS2 original and import CDR and DVDR back-ups with the Swap Magic 2 disks. This is performed by swapping the Swap Magic 2 disk with your burned PS2 back-ups by lifting the Flip-Top lid! All you need is a screwdriver and about 15 minutes to install it. Just replace your current PS2 shell with the Flip-Top and you can easily swap your backup with the Swap Magic boot disc.

As stated to you in a earlier post, you need to use the search engine, The flip lid is NOT great, neither is the swap magic disc. In fact they suck, many regular members will not reply to this post because this info has been covered over and over again and they get tired of repeating themselves. Many times we see people like you trying to save a buck by buying this crap and everytime the end result is always chaos, They wind up back in the forum having problems booting games and eventually have to buy a no swap chip to get the desired result.
Waste your money if you want, its up to you but the no swap chips cannot be beat and really dont cost that much more

Seriously, Jon_Adams...... Listen to what Warlock is telling you.... He is correct in every regard......
The no swap chip WILL cost you more money up front, BUT it works so much better and easier.......... It is worth EVERY LAST CENT........
Just remember..... You GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR..........
send it back to sony say it has problems playing dvds and you want a like for like version ie you sent a v4 thus you want a v4 i think you get a gtee with the refurb model they sent you
