View Full Version : Anyone had problems with : PS2 No Solder Mod Chip Version 4?

I tried the PS2 No Solder Mod Chip Version 4 , worked fine for a short while then I started to get allot of " DISC READ ERRORS "

Now im not sure if it was just coincidence that my laser was beginning to go faulty or was it the PS2 No Solder Mod Chip Version 4?

At the moment I have sent back the Playstation 2 console back to SONY and they are about to replace it with a reconditioned one (Didn’t come cheap!!! £65.00)

What im worried about is the PS2 No Solder Mod Chip Version 4 which I might put back in.

OR if the reconditioned one is a VERSION 5 or 6 would people recommend: PS2 No Solder Mod Chip Version 5/6?


Has anyone had problems with ANY of these chips?

Any comments would be appreaciated, Thank you.

Jon_Adams, I am not trying to be mean or anything but if you will use the search engine you will find loads of info on the no solder mods. A no solder mod works ok if used with GS2/Ar2 and Hi TOC dvd original, that is as long as you dont mind swaping to play backups.

i got a no solder 5/6 works great but if ur getting disk read error when trying to load ur gameshark2 some reason them things only work for a certin amount of time on older ps2 systems cause my friend bought a gs2 when he first got ps2 back when they was 300$ and the gs2 worked for a long time and one day would not work no more gave disk read then he bought new gs2 worked 2 times then disk read and sence them he has not bought no more and this is also funney i had a brand new 30001 R ps2 which i useing now and i bought a gs2 ver 1.8 off ebay still packed in package and i opend it stuck in my ps2 and guess what disk read error i never got that gs2 to work so i went to walmart and bought a new one ver 2.0 and it works great so i trade the older one with new one got my cash back and i use it to boot games but when i trun the ps2 on goto browser screen and then put gs2 in it will disk read u got to have the gs2 in when u turn on ur system:confused:confused
