im getting the v4 no sodler mod chip i know you probabply reccomend the apple or messiha or whatever but for the say 40 dollars difference ill go with what im getting plus i dont like soldering (not sending to bill)

Do you have a Gameshark 2/Action Replay 2 or swap magic discs? Cause you need those in addition to your no solder chip.

okay i ran into a problem someone said i had a v4 board but i am skeptial

my model number is scph - 3001 r
serial starts with U0
expision bay doesnt have the screws
and has 8 screws on bottom

It's a v4 according to pauls site.

but at the site you gave me it said its a v5/6

Yes but the picture of how to tell the difference between a v5/v6 shows that you have a v5 if you have that screw. If you have no screws like you say, then you have a v4. Read the green text there before the v5 part.

ok the description says it plays dvd-r's will it work on a dvd+r? whats the difference

I am assuming you are talking about the no solder mod. It will play +r if your laser is up to the task. Some v4s play +r, some don't.

okay so if what you are saying is going through my head right...some lasers are stroonger than others?

Correct. v1-v3 sucked. v4 was so so. v5 and up are best.
