I guess this is a stupid question but my buddy backed up a couple of his games on DVD+R discs. I have a version 4 PS2 with a Magic 3 chip installed and I've been told that I should use DVD-R discs for my system. His DVD+R backups booted in my system so I was considering getting a couple discs so he could back some titles up for me. I was thinking that it would be worth the extra $$$ to get DVD+RW discs in case the copy he makes doesn't work in my PS2. That way I could just erase the disc and try again. Do +RW discs boot just as easily as +R discs?
Not in a version 4 PS2. Version 5 to 7 should be okay but version 1 to 4 had different laser that were pretty crap. U R better off sticking to dvd-r.

IS that true???
but I don't think it works with cd-rw
That would be good if u can use dvd+rw
Then u can erase when u get sick of the game ^^

don't you need to close the cd before the game or movie can run?
PS2 won't read cdrw cos it has tow lasers in it:
1 for cd which won't read cdrw without recalibrating and then it will read cdrw but nothing else. Having said that some people r lucky and can get cdrw to work. Probably depends on what brand u use.
1 for dvd which if u have a version 5 to 8 should have no probs reading dvdrw.
