what are the best pc spec's to have for copying dvd's
me and my cousin are looking to backup out dvd's and we want to make sure the specs on our pc's are good enough
There are no best specs but here is what I recommend at least. 128 megs ram, 20 gig hard drive, and 750 mhz processor.
Hey Big,
Just a note. I am running 512mb RAM, 733Mhz, P3, with only a 13GB hard drive. I will still do a 1 DVD backup in about 58 mins. What is the complete time that yours will do a 4.2 gig single DVD?
Just wondering.
Same as you, a little less than an hour. I have a 750mhz P3, 192 ram, and a 20 gig hard drive.

Well....you suck BG.:p
:D I really need to get a dvd rom to speed this process up.:o
I'm using a Toshiba DVD-ROM to read from and I have the output disc ready box checked. It's pretty nifty. Big, you get my PM?
I made a complete backup on 1 dvd of "the good girl" in 38 mins using a Verbatim disc.

I am running Win98SE with no probs whatsoever. I have backed up over 50 dvds.
ic99 what programs are u using to back up ?
Hey bugzy, he primarily uses dvdxcopy. He just got dvd2one as well and has used that too. I really think you should give dvdxcopy another go bugzy but with the newest version available now, 1.4.1
hey bighap whats going on ....ive been out of a pc for awhile due to total failure(couldnt figure out the problem for the life of me) tried everything....but anyways im on another machine at the moment but i just ordered a brand new pc from gateway
2.5 gig pentium
128 meg nvdia card
sb audigy gamer sound card
sony DRU 500a dvd burner( is there any known conflicts with this and dvdxcopy?or any other dvd programs)
80 gig hd
etc
etc
but when it comes maybe ill give dvdxcopy another try coz all it did on my old machine was freeze freeze and oh froze some more =) .
by the way what is this dvd2one program about is it like dvdxcopy?
The DRU-500A works fine with dvdxcopy and other programs. DVD2One compresses the dvd to fit onto one disc. It supposedly doesn't show any signs of lower quality video. The only downside is that it takes some time and it doesn't work with movies over 2 hours.
Bighap, got my new pc and tried dvd2one and wow that program is awesome and works perfect ...havent gave dvdxcopy a try yet will let ya know when i do
Sweet. Glad it's working out for ya.:)
bighap lil off topic but wheres a good site to buy ritek dvd media from cheap?
thanks in advance
Right now, Ritek are in high demand and there are few around, so prices are higher than they were. A good place to go is rima.com (www.rima.com) Whoops, I see they are all out. Go here (http://store.yahoo.com/cdrdvdrmedia/index.html) instead.
thanks bighap...check pm i had a quick question for ya:cool:
Got it and you already have a response.:)
