Alien vs predator gold

I'm tring to run Avsp gold on XP. When the applicaiton is run it appears in the processes window, but the program will not run.
Has anyone got it to run in XP or will I have to install win 98.

It is reported to run, here (http://www.ntcompatible.com/compat.php?cat=games&idx=a&sort=&st=100) you can find some comments, maybe they'll help. If you have a SB Live/Audigy, try moving the sound acceleration slider in dxdiag.exe to basic or none
