I am pleased to tell Forum members that Messiah 2 v1.23 will fully support BIOS 090 on both GH-019 motherboards and GH-022 motherboards.

To remind you, v1.21 and v1.22 already support BIOS 090 on GH-019 motherboards (presently the 39008 model for Russia and countries around that region).

v1.23, when it goes into production shortly, supports BIOS 090 on GH-022 motherboards. This has been tested on 39000 (JAP) and 39006 (Hong Kong), which are the only two production models currently available.

When the US/CDN and Europe/Antipodes markets receive v8 PS2s, Messiah 2 will already be there.

Thanks to ISDNMAN who supplied the v8s and to hDL for quickly making the necessary code changes to Messiah2.

Outstanding......

That is what I call lightning FAST support.....

I need to post an update here on the NTSC GH-022 v8 question.

We have been testing the pre-production versions of Messiah 2 v1.23 and have found irregularities with booting DVD-R that cannot be resolved by laser adjustment.

For a reason that is still under investigation, DVD9 backups (Hong Kong "Golds") appear to boot more reliably than plain DVD-Rs.

Consequently the v1.23 edition of Messiah 2 has not yet been put into production.

I have heard the V8 will not read dvd-r but fully expect the media manufacturers (Ritek, princo etc) to move with the times and release a new type of disc that is compatible (at a hugely inflated price no doubt).

Well that would certainly suck. I might just have to go buy another v7 and keep it in the box just incase I need it....that's if this ends up being the case.

Counter measures are always met with counter counter measures! Charlie has the Messiah2 ready to go (as is the DMS3). Noway are Ritek going to forego all their profits and likewise Pioneer are hardly likely to watch dvd writer sales plummet due to compatibility issues!

Let those that stand to lose thousands lose the sleep lol.

I didn't say that the v8 couldn't read DVD-R. There are irregularities and we don't like irregularities!

No m8 I heard that elsewhere, everything is hearsay just now, and rumour control (moi ;) ) is taking over lol

There are only three people who know exactly what's going on and I'm two of them!

How could the v8 possibly not read DVD-r's? Seems weird to me.

A crafty question! v8 definitely does read DVD-Rs - but the PS2 valid disk check routine doesn't like what itr sees on the DVD-R and goes to red screen. Normally the modchip would pick this up before it happened. If the modchip cannot do that, then Sony have changed something - and it's not the BIOS in this case.

Wonder how long it will take them to crack this one!
