I bought my PS2 with mod last year in march and I dont know much then. I still got ripped off coz he didnt give me a AR2 PS1 boot disc, and PAL PS2 CD copy do not work, and some DVD backups requires another demo disc to boot (trail and error to figure this out)

now I want to know what type of mods have I got want to know if it is the boot sequence i got wrong or the ability of the chip.

Here is my boot sequence:
spec: PS2 V4 region 2 (PAL) console

PS2 DVD original - (PAL, i dont have NTSC original)
normal boot

PS2 DVD backup -
insert AR2 1.9
press reset twice before tray closes
after AR2 boot up, press eject and insert PS2 original with large TOC (or sometimes a PAL demo disc depending on game. usually is a game with out a label U/C)
wait for the eject light to flash - press start game - without codes
tray ejects - insert DVD backups

PS2 CD backup
insert AR2 1.9
press reset twice before tray closes
after AR2 boot up, press eject, then press eject again to close tray
wait for the eject light to flash - press start game - without codes
tray ejects - insert CD backups (PAL ones dont work)

PSone - I was told that it doesnt work.... :(

any information on this would be appreciated.

Theres a sticky entitled boot procedures for all chips on the opening page here.

Do the obvious thing and ask ur chipper. I may be wrong but, I'm not aware of a chip that wont play PSX!

Ditch it for a noswap mod from a reputable source.

Thanks for your reply

I checked the sticky and it is not there.. Most likely it is a cheap mod ( although it wasnt so cheap back then)

I would ask the dealer but I bought this overseas and I couldnt ask them.
