Mod Chip Installation Problems

My friend is installing a magic 3.1 chip into a version 4 ps2....when he gets everything soldered in and stuff he gets a black screen (no loading or anything) what is the problem, and please don't say "get a messiah chip" because i kno that seems to be a favorite? any clues what it might be caused from?

Check ur mnop for bridges! Did you remove the laquer from these points before soldering? I use a fibreglass pencil, you can't get a good joint through the laquer.

cool, thanx i'll tell him, and for reference sake..what is the mnop, i don't kno, but he might, so i want to know in case he doesn't...thanx a bunch...yea i kno i'm a total newbie..hehe

If he installed it himself he will know what the mnop is.
