Greetings all!

I haven't posted in a while (I've been dormant). I'd like to ask a question.

Have any of you folks purchased a modchip from this site:

http://ps2modchip.com/

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw a Messiah 2 for $15!

I just wanted to know if anyone has had any dealings with this group, and if so were they good or bad?!

Thanks for any feedback.

It is not a real Messiah 2. Sell clones and call them what they aren't. Such as Messiah 2 and Magic 4(doesn't even exist). I would never buy from them. If you want a true Messiah 2 send charlie_ps2 or dust2dust an email.

Thanks for the quick response bighap! I was tempted by the price, but I'm glad I was informed before I made a purchase. I will try to contact charlie_ps2 and/or dust2dust.

Good choice. Be prepared to pay more than $15 though.:)

LOL :D

I certainly expect to pay more; I figure between chip/install I'll be looking at nearly $100. I just sent an e-mail to charlie_ps2 so we'll see what happens.

A little more than that. I'm not sure what they are charging for the Messaih 2 now, but probably between 50 and 60 dollars. Install by Bill at freedomlives.com is $60 + about $15 to ship there + $15 to ship it back. So all in all about $140 - $150. But trust me it is worth every penny.

I don't doubt that it's worth it! The principle amount invested can easily be made up for once the PS2 is chipped and ready for action. Currently, I've got a no-solder modchip (which I installed...) that only allows CD-R's to boot and only in conjunction with a GS2 Disc. I will feel much better when the PS2 will direct boot the DVD-R backups I've made.

BTW, bighap; If memory serves, I BELIEVE I have a V4 PS2. Do you know weather or not the Messiah 2 is compatible?

Great info, thanks.

Yes, v4 is compatible with the Messiah 2.

Excellent. In that case, with a little time and a little dough, I will have the PS2 chipped and direct-booting! No more swaps! :)
Good news indeed; Yea, verily.

Yes, swapping sucks. You will love the ease of the Messiah 2.

I'm sure I'll enjoy the direct-boot method. Meanwhile, back at the ranch.... I've got to go to work. Everyone have a good afternoon! After today, I will make sure to visit the forums more often.
