I installed two "Messiah 2" clone chips yesterday on two 39001 ver.7's. I guess the chips came from http://www.the-console-corner.com/the_messiah_2.htm

They certainly aren't messiahs, but they work ok. Booted all my Ritek DVD-R backups. But only my quality CD-R back-ups booted (ie - TDK, Verbatim, Phillips). Memorex back-ups gave the RSOD.

GT3 DVD-R - OK
Dead To Rights DVD-R - OK
LOTR The Two Towers DVD-R - OK
GTA Vice City DVD-R - OK

I let the Vice City intro play for a bit, didn't freeze. Played around for a while, didn't freeze. I'm not sure where the Magic 3 freezes.

Anyone know what they really are ? Apple chip clones maybe ? Matrix ?

It wasn't the intro to vice city that had the prob, it is randomly during the game. Kingdom hearts is the intro to test.

Please report back.

I have also given this chip a full testing and these are my findings:

DVD-r games: yes(no freeze on vice city or kingdom hearts)
CD-r games: yes
DVD9 original: 3/10 tries (metal gear solid substance would not work at all but xenosaga booted occasionally)
chip shut off function: yes
browser support: weird but out of six chips installed it worked on 3 i did and two others didnt, and a fellow installer friends did not have browser support on his.

will do more test soon but so far the magic 3.1 seems to be a little better. I will keep you posted. They should sell it as a clone and not just call it a messiah 2. Its not even a good clone. The real Messiah 2 is still the best chip out.
