Sony DRU500A & Pionerr ao4

which is better i am looking at buying one
1.Sony DRU500A Dual RW DVD/CD Internal Drive
2.Pioneer DVR-A04 DVD Recordable Drive
3.Pioneer DVR-A05 DVD Recordable Drive


P.S. What is the big diff with the AO4 compaired to the AO5?

Also i know the AO4 Does dvd-r....Is that good on a version 7 w/magic3?

If you aren't going to use the +r option there is no reason to get the Sony. The A05 has the ability to record at 4x while the A04 can only do 2x. 4x media is still real expensive though. dvd-r works great with v7's.

I would say the A05 is the best drive, it is 100% compatable with clone cd so its perfect for cdr backups as well as dvd-r.

I have the DRU-500a, It is 100% supported by CloneCD 4.2.0.2, Alcohol 120% 140 build 114, Nero 5.5.10.0, RecordNow Max 4.5 & just about every other program I've tried. Recording speed is:

DVD-R..........4x
DVD-RW.......2.4
DVD+R.........4x
DVD+RW......2.4
CD-R............24x
CD-RW.........10

The main reason I went with the DRU-500a is that the CD-R speed was better thn that of most other DVD-RWs
