I have just had a chip put in my PS1. When trying to play my backed up games, the screen is shaking so much that I have 3 images of everything on the screen. I was told that this is due to the age of the television. Our TV is about 12 years old.

Is this true?

I am going to try plugging the PS1 into a newer TV (about 2yo) tonight.

Also, what is all this talk about patches, etc. (I am new to this). I have original copies of Spyro 1, 2 and 3 as well as all the Crash Bandicoot games and some other games. Am I correct in assuming that I cannot play a backed up copy of Spryo3?

Any help greatly appreciated.

I have now tried this on our new TV and the games work fine. Anybody have an explanation as to why they shake on our older TV?

Ahhh.... an answer

I have contacted the tech support at ozchips.com.au and they told me that it is because the old TV does not handle the NTSC format like newer TV's do. It is just a matter of adjusting the verticle hold on the TV when playing the game (I haven't tried this yet as I am at work and have just read the email).

I will let all know how it turns out.
