hey guys. I have a problem. I bought a playstation 2 game and I want to make a backup copy of it. The game is a cd not a dvd and the protection type is psx/lybcript. Clony says to put the appropriate settings, and says which these are. I did it, transfered the settings into clonecd latest version, but it didn't work, I couldn't make in image, it crashed at 63%. I tried the whole process 3-4 more times with the same or other settings. no result. I tried making an on the fly copy. I inserted the cd and a rewritable disk and did an on the fly copy, a simulation first. No problems. Then I did it actually. The result was, the cd was copied but it was scanned by clony as an audio cd and actually blank! It really pisses me of having clony detect the protection, giving the settings to clonecd and not getting the job done! Sure shit happens but.......U know guys any methods to copy ps2 games(in cd format) without problems?
The programs you are using a mostly foolproof....
Most everyone here uses them with no problems.....
If it crashes when you are trying to write the image to the hard drive, there is something wrong with the original disc....(i.e. dirty, scratched)
At what speed are you reading the original disc?
Try a slow read speed AND a slow write speed until you find the best combination.....
I always read at 4X and write at either 4X or 8X.....(I have a 32X burner BUT never use that speed) I feel more comfortable reading and burning at slower speeds....
Try this and lets see if we can get you sorted out...

hi guys i'm back again, thanks for your replies. well things go like this. I tried your way (apart from using an older clonecd version, not yet anyway). I read the cd in 2x and again it crashed. Then I went and read it with 4x. This time(and the only one) it was read. I have an image of the game now.(whether it is functional or not I can't say, however, I load it with daemon tools, of course it can't play but I do see that it's like I loaded a cd) Anyway then I tried to write the game, always in simulation mode first and always with the use of my rewritable cd(my testing cd). I tried it in 4x 6x and 8x speeds. It crashed but not the way it did before. Before, in the reading process it crashed at around 63%. When I managed to write it had reached about 90% then the speed dropped at 0,17x for about a minute, after that it went up to 3x and was written. In the writing process, no matter the speed (from the above 3 mentioned above) and with the appropriate settings ticked, at about 93% the speed drops to 0.17x then to 0x. The last time I waited about half an hour more.......It went from 93 to 94% at a speed no more than 0.10x . I've only run across such a case when the protection is read errors. So, what gives?
I have a feeling that something's wrong with the clone cd and clonyxl cooperation. I find in clony the protection, i click on the button saying "get own settings" I answer yes in the yes no question but i don't know, I have a feeling the settings just won't go through. A lot of times I've read a protection did the procedure, but ended up having problems.
P.S. there are no scratches it's brand new cd, all the existing dirt is gone.
I await patiently for your help guys.
P.S. I live in Greece. I haven't checked what version my ps2 is but it is a pal. Should I place a messiah 1 or 2 chip?I don't really trust any technisians from here for fear of f.....g up my ps2. Any way I can do it with uou guys? Le' me know.
