I purchased my Magic3 modded PS2 so I could play my imports, but I just found out, somewhat after the fact, that I need to do some patching first. So, does anyone know where I could get a patch for Para Para Paradise, and if it's a DVD game or not?

You shouldn't need patching unless you aren't using CloneCD. Who told you that and why?

the guy i called at GoCyberShop (where i bought my premod), because i cant seem to boot from my original copy. i did find out it IS a DVDrom, and its a japanese import.
there are 3 different bootup methods for non US ps2 discs: turn on from standby with a tap of reset; turn on with eject, insert disc, close tray, hit reset when closed fully; and turn on with eject, insert disc, hit reset.
but, unfortunatly, they all lead me to that blasted red screen.
the modchip, as far as i know, IS installed correctly, as i can get a PSX burned disc to boot correctly, and US original PSX and PS2 games boot just fine.
edit: he told me its because the japanese discs are in a different format or some such, and thats why my PS2 cant play it, even with the modchip

A TRUE magic 3 has only 1 boot method for PS2 games...Regardless if its a import or not....
This is the boot procedures for a "Original Magic 3"
NOTE: This is with the disk assumed in the tray and the tray closed:
Playstation 2 Games
• Power up normally from STANDBY with RESET button. A single tap is required.
Playstation 1 games & DVD Movies
• Power up from STANDBY with RESET button held until the blue EJECT light comes on; then release RESET and the disk will boot.
NOTE: Turn off the PS2 (to standby) before changing Mode (PS1/PS2/DVD)
