Clony XL and it's successor Clony XXL is a copy protection identifying tool. You insert your cd, click scan, and it tells you what protection is on the cd and what settings to use in Clone CD.

since SC4 is protected with safedisc2, at a guess it'd be 2.8, u'd be best to use BlindWrite to make a backup of the discs.

1. Check if the original CD is not defected. Like scraps or somthing.
2. Try Blindwrite.
3. Read the topic above next time.
4. Don't write this kind of topics if u not have test all the option the topic above are suggesting!!!

The 3:rd topic. I'm beening tired to answer all the burning help with Safedisc protection.

U can if u are instering. Use blindwrite (kit) to read the SimCity 4 cd and use a converter to convert the image to maybe .img file.

For my own interest : Someone tell me why I would want to use a convertor to convert the BWT (Blindread file) as krondike suggested to a .img file...... I'm not sure of the purpose of that....

If BlindRead / Write suite is being suggested here, surely using Blindread to read the image & Blindwrite to record that image... wouldn't serve a purpose for you to convert the image to a different extension...given it has to be burned back to the disc in order for you to have a copy anyways.......

I used Alcohol 120% and it made a perfect 1:1 backup using the SafeDisc2 mode.

Hope u know that Blindwrite also can read in to files like .iso and .bin and that's image format that's are standard. When u have read in to that format u can convert the file to most image u want.

Like the topic maker want. .img file. (I'm not aware of what program are supporting .img files but I know that's are tools that's can convert files to atoher images file format. Why u should do that I not my problem. The guy just ask for .img file. So I tip him.
I use Blindwrite to do backup for my games. I read it in to .bin file and burn it with the .cue file in Fireburner. But that's what I do and that is'nt what the guy ask for.
