View Full Version : Patches?
Is it neccesary to use a patched game when you have a modchip?
Depends. If you burn a dvd game then no. For a cd game not burned using CloneCD then yes. Or if you need to apply a pal-ntsc or ntsc-pal patch.
Could you suggest the best software to burn dvd games? I have tried some versions of CDRWin, but have had some problems.
What type of dvd burner do you have???
Use Primo DVD or RecordNow Max for your dvd based games....
Use Clone CD for all your cd based games.....
There is a tutorial at the top of this forum that shows you step by step on how to use Primo or RecordNow Max....
I have a HP DVDwriter 200i. Anytime I go to record now and click "make a data disc" it says " no recordable or rewritable devices detected on your system. PrimoDVD says "No compatable rocorder drives found on this computer. My writer seems to work fine with programs like Roxio easy CD creator, CloneCD, and DVD X Copy.
Have you tried installing the PXEngine update???
It can be found on Veritas website....
Install the latest px engine update here (http://eval.veritas.com/downloads/pro/exe/pxEngine358.exe) then try primo again.
I have tried the uptate. Even tried it again to be sure, but it still does not work.
 Your 200i might be like the A05 and not work with Primo. Give RecordNow Max a try. You can download a demo at www.stompinc.com
I have tried Recordnow Max. Thats were I get the message "NO recordable or rewritable devices can be found on your system" I get this when I click on "make a data disc"
Do you have an AOL IM name?
Yeah. You have PM regarding this.

Ahhhh.... Don't be shy.... :D :D :D
I wanted to bother you.....:p
Just kidding....
LOL! I'll be getting a new screen name dedicated to fileforums support very soon. And yes I will share it.:p
I have heard that you can burn ps2 games with nero. Is this possible?
Yes you can use Nero. It's not the best option but it works for most games. You have already tried the better option softwares.
I finaly got it to work. Turns out I was using Recordnow Max V3.0. I went to the website for stomp and got V4.5 and it works fine. Now my next question. I understand when and why you need a patch. The thing is exactly how? As far as i now patches are applied to .bin files not the global images created with recordnow. Am i wrong? If so how do i change gi files into bin? what is the best place to find patches?
You can add patches to bin or .gi files. You can check out psx paul's guide here (http://www.psx-paul.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ppfv3.htm)
First of all I want to thank you for all your help. It definetely would have taken me much longer with out you. I clicked on your link to psx-paul's page and i doesn't work. I also tried typing it directly and still no go. I'll try again later.
***UPDATE***
I know have a AIM screen name dedicated to fileforums. It is FileForumsGod. So if you need to get a hold of me you now have another option.
Headly: Please disregard the screen name I gave you earlier. I will no longer be using that.

@ Headly......
If you use PPF-O-Matic 3....... It WILL apply patches to .GI files as well as .BIN files....
The older versions will not work with .GI files, but version 3 WILL...:)
I already know you guys like the messiah 2 chip. what do think of magic 3.1 or 3.6? also where is a good place to find chips? I've looked on modchip.com and chipzone. I currently have a V4 ps2 but am thinking of upgradeing. The laser on my V4 makes alot of noise when it is searching. Bought my brother a reconditioned one I know he will trade not sure of the model yet.
I've also been reading up on the workings of the PS2's . Do you know where I can find info on lazer azimuth?
