I have been getting errors trying to burn Vice City. IM using primo software. When I try to make a global image to my harddrive it says completed with errors and it doesn't show up on my c drive. I got the same result with two different vice city games. Any ideas? Do you think I should be using record Now instead of Primo? Do they make a difference?

Thanks For Your Help!!!

I backed up Vice City with RecordNow Max.... No problem....

Are the 2 that you used (to try and backup from) backups or originals....

Sounds like the one you are trying to backup from is damaged in some way...Although I would find it odd that both were damaged...

There originals copies. I'll have to try Record Now. But they do have some scatches.
Thanks for the Help!

That is most likely your problem. Try getting a copy in better shape. You could try Blockbuster or any other rental store.

I've copied with Primo 100%. If it's with errors then you've got read errors. You should ensure that PrimDVD aborts on a read error.

I have now used 3 different original Vice City Copies. IM still getting the same error. At the end of my global Image, instead of saying completed successfully, it say's completed with errors. I don't think it has to do with the games. Is it ok to have more than 1 .gi file on your hard drive? I have plenty of room on my hard drive. I have a .gi of Maddon 2003 also on my c drive. I can't imagine it would, but IM running out of reasons.

Thanks!

At what speed are you reading the original to create the .GI file???

I've used Min. and Max.. My computer has been acting up. My OS hasn't been loading up right. I have to call dell and get it straighting out, but I was successful with Madden 2003 while having the same problems. Just my luck the game I really want to back up gives me trouble!

Thanks for the help!:D

Well I installed pxengine and I had a successful write to my hard drive:D

But when I went to vthe folder it was in, I notice there was 4 different .gi files. Together, all 4 add up to the 4.3gb vice city game. I can't believe this. Anyone know why this happened? I tried 3 times with the same results. Do you think I could copy all 4 files to a dvd-r and be able to play it?

Thank You For Your Help!

Yes this is normal. Just select the image without the number at the end e.g.:

You may have the following on your HDD or something similar (i'm not exactly sure where the number would go now - I can't remember because I'm knackered and it's 01.18 in the bloody morning) :

Vicecity.gi(1)
Vicecity.gi(2)
Vicecity.gi(3)
Vicecity.gi

You would select 'vicecity.gi' in this scenario. Just select the file without the number and burn away...

I had a similar problem , done with errors , but I eventually got hold of a scratch free disc and hey presto it backed up no problem.

yeah. This seems a common prob that a lot of people have brought up.

Trust me , if u get a non scratched oriiginal then it will back up no problem with primo or Record max now, also with alcohol 120% and IInstantDVD.

I made a copy of GTA:VICE CITY with NERO using the DVD copy option. Just made a 1 for 1 copy and it works fine. Let me know if you need any help.
