Yep I wasted months waiting for a Sony! I just got a Pioneer 117 to go with it which will make the perfect duplicator. Alas tis bye bye to my cd duplicator now (1-7 32x) PM me if anybody is interested.

Change of plan - the 117 won't read in raw mode (bugga). Does anybody know a dvd-rom which does?

does this mean the A05 is good for writing CD based games too? i was thinking of geting one of them $30 52x lite-on's for doing CD's but if the A05 is just as good i wont have to buy it.

BG

Yes... It will.....

Although if I were you, I would spend the $30 bucks and get a seperate drive.... It will save the additional wear and tear on your expensive A05 and only cost you 30 bucks more.... ALOT better wearing out a 30 dollar cd burner than wearing out a 200-300 dollar dvd burner.....

Just my opinion...:)

thats true but really how many CD based games are there? i dont think there are many ( that are any good anyway :p )

Try finding a Toshiba dvd-rom. They are the best and are 100% clone cd compatable meaning they read all sub channel data for copying cd games although the Pioneer dvd-r writers will not write RAW-DAO-96.
I use a toshiba dvd rom with my pioneer A03 for dvd-r burning, for cd games i use a 100% clonecd compatable sony cdrw. The pioneer burners are usless for copy protected cd games.

Well, I've copied Harry Potter (chamber of secrets) and Star Wars racer 'revenge' @ 12x using datasafe media on my 105.

Yes clone cd will recognize the drive and will copy some games but it will not copy RAW dao 96.

Hull, see if the A05 will allow you to read sub channel data.

Warlock
14-01-2003, 18:06
Well according to the new clonecd 4.1.01 my A03 will read and write sub channel data but i know for a FACT that it dont support this. I will do a little research on this and see if it is something that is software corrected.

My A05 appears to be 100% compatible with Clone CD also....

I have e-mailed Pioneer to find out for sure.... I will post there e-mail when (and if) they reply....

pioneer a04 will write subs but only 16 (not 96)
the way to check the a05 is to backup a ps1 game thats known to have protection

BG
15-01-2003, 07:32
Dust.... Do you know of a certain game to try with....I only have a few PS1 games....

Mortal Kombat Trilogy
Wheel Of Fortune (not mine.. Its the wifes :) )
Tekken 2
Tekken 3

I've got others, but I can't remember what they are since I'm at work right now....

If you know that any of these have the protection, I will try to copy them when I get home...

OK, I've just written medievil2 (it's on the above list) using clonecd on my 105. Works perfectly on a Magic3 modded Pal V7, I can't vouch for messiah2 tho! (Tis a joke, honest lol)

Are we convinced now? :D

If you can download CLONYXL and put medievil2 through the program. Then publish the paramaters for CloneCD that it comes up with. If those parameters include Read sub-channel data, then the A05 supports DAO-RAW+96. It's the RAW+96 that matters as the subchannel data which contains the encryption is held in the 96 bytes beyond the 2352 byte RAW limit.

Then we can lay this to rest and proclaim A05 to be fully CloneCD compatible.

I stand corrected Craig :) You are right, as you can see from my post my burner doesnt support RAW-DAO, Yours does and IS 100% compatable. Pioneer must have corrected this with the A05 which is great for all A05 owners.
LOL, Now, can the same be said for the Sony dvd-r +r writer :D
