Hi mate, here's your answer:

Well the fact that you are a manu fan will certainly be giving you problems, LOL :D . Anyway, on a more serious note, Fw.1.33 basically means Firmware version 1.33. It is a type of driver for your DVD-RW. So, why don't they use a normal driver like the other CD-ROM / CD-RW drives on my computer you might be asking? Well, a simple CD-RW drive will get the info on how to burn the disc from the hard disc and the software you are using to burn, therefore all the drive needs to know is how and when to put pits and dots onto the disc which is controlled by the driver software. However, a DVD-RW has a very different approach. Instead of having a driver, it has a BIOS, just like your motherboard. This is because the way a DVD disc is produced is very different. A CD-RW can just burn the image from HDD to CD however it wants but a DVD-RW has to syncronise the data on the HDD or disc, to its own burning speed and that is why it needs a BIOS and the firmware. That is also the reason why the drive will not burn faster that 2x. Only recently has technology advanced enough to perform faster burns.

To solve your problems you could try the following...
1). Uninstall ALL your burning software.
2). Download the latest Firmware update from the Pioneer
website. Fw1.40
3). Close all Virus Checkers and Background programs.
4). Run the Firmware. It may not complete first time and your drive may appear to be dead - I know, it took me two hours to Flash the drive completely, just keep running the program until the flashing process is completed with success.
5). Restart the system
6). Install ONLY one or two pieces of burning software - this may have been your problem - two particular pieces of software may have been conflicting! I would suggest RecordNow MAX and NERO for your CD's.
7). Go into your drive properties in My Computer and make sure Auto Finalisation is TICKED!
8). Go into RecordNow MAX or Nero and DISABLE (very important) AUTO INSERT NOTIFICATION to ALL of your drives.
9). Restart your system.
10). Have another go at burning! Hopefully, this time the process will have worked. For the full tutorial, check out www.psxcopyworld.co.uk or check out a new site which is opening really soon @ www.mjpaul.freeserve.co.uk .

Your system should be able to cope, so this shouldn't be causing your problems, I think it is your drive setup. Follow the above and enjoy. If this still doesn't result in a good burn, PM or E-mail me again and I may be able to suggest something else. Anyway good luck and let me know how you get on - Keep me posted...
