Dose it matter what media type u have to back up dvd games i have found that different games are more irritated by poor media types than others. games that load while your playing them or have a lot going on at once another factor was high TOC's [GTA VC, Getaway and THPS 4] these games tend to freeze up after playing 4 a short time when using low quallity media [imation]. Other games like car racing and games with smaller toc's run fine when burnt to same media type imation. Then when using a better quality media [Sony] these other games have no problems running. so u may get away with cheap/poor quality dvd disks with games that require less reading or read the disk while your not playing the game but load the game in small sections while your not playing e.g car racing loads one track at a time or games that load up a mission area at once.
I use a phillips DVD+R+RW burner and RecordNow MAX PS2V5[also works on freinds V1-V3 unshore but it has ten screws as far as i know version 1-3 have ten screws and all versions after have eight] no mod chip AR2 Knife swap[like it or not] with this i have 100% strike rate now on all ps2 DVD , CD-R and ps1 cd-r's. Thanks heaps to all at game copy world. I've also made back up onto DVD+RW media[yet to try and RE-Write but can't see why it won't work] this will come in handy for games that you sell or no longer play enough to need a back up of.I Know some of the things that I've said are different to things that other people have said, like DVD+R's don't play on version 1-4 and that ps2 dose'nt read DVD RW's. so don't be cruel this is not meant to be fact for all,but would just like some opinions of expert members

I'd just like to add to this some new info I have just learned
DO NOT PUT LABELS on your dvd backups this may cause them not to run properly and it is very irrating to make a copy that works fine then put a label on it and it stuffs up all the time Thanks go to the bighap and bg for this info which may save u some more of those exy disk. Haven't had problems with CD-R labels but I don't think I'll bother doing them any more either
Yeah. This is a problem I have found that certain media is fine for simple games ( Tekken4,Simpsons Road Rage etc) but no god at constant streaming games like GTAVice, Time splitters2 and Max Payne. I also found that if you buy a 2X cheaper media then it plays a lot better if you burn it at 2 speed rather than being cautious and burning slowly. I guess that on cheap media you can like overfry the write surface if you burn too slow.
One simple answer that will sort everything out!!
Always use good quality media for every burn. I got fed up of trial and error and some games working and some not. Got a shed load of DVDMaster and Traxdata and backed up all games again and now all work as good as originals no probs. Saves time and money and you can burn at any speed and get a decent backup.
Regards!!!!

I've seen a lot of post where people say that ps2 dose not read RW disk but I have become a big fan of this media type not that I've had any stuff up yet but if they do u can erase and start again.

My suggestion is find whatever media works good for you, for all games. Find an accessible way to get it and don't change. Mods are different, PS2 lasers are different.... What media works great for me might suck for another person, I went through a lot of media before I found what works best for me and theres no reason for me to change, as long as my games keep booting away!!

Yeah guess my only prob is being able to get media of the same type all the time. not many stores where i live have not even heard of dvd +r[sad is'nt] then the'll look at me strange when i tell them dvd-r won't work usally if i see them some where i clean em out usally 2 or 3 disk[major bulk a] a couple of web sites I've browsed have the media and at a good price to[3 dollars seems cheap to since i pay up to 15 dollars per disk] but because i live in the land down under they won't to charge me 300 P&H for 100 disk so add that to the cost of the disk and its not worth it if anyone knows of a good site to dvd+r +rw media I would much like for u to let me know about it

I always use the Burn and read at max speed because my burner can detect which is the best speed to read and write the data that is on the disk. clone cd is a good example of this some games will read in 2-3 minutes and write to disk in about the same time others may take up to half an hour for each phase. so some times it tells me it burning at 24x other times it will burn at 4x even 2x and somtimes will change at different times from burning at 4x then speed up to 12x this is all with settings set to max speed it's not a problem it's good when burning dvd's with record now max i also have the read speed set to max and also the write speed. this also not a problem the game just takes what time it needs to burn then usally writes at 2.4x
another thing to take into acount is to not do anything else on the computer while in the copy procces as this will cause your system slowing down and hence can effect the quality of your back up. so when copying games Don't do anything else on ya computer i'd also advise that u turn of your screensaver as this type of burning can last 4 a long time and screensaver can also cause conflics on ya system. what do u think.
