Not a stupid question, quite an important question if you are thinking about purchasing a modchip.
Have a look here (http://www.psx-paul.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ps2versionreference.htm) for your answer :)
Cheers for that Paul.
How come whenever you are trying to enjoy yourself it always comes down to the number of screws you've got.
One final question, if I need a Mod to play backed-up PS2 games and I need to know the version to get the correct Mod. Does the Mod fit internally or externally and is fitting one a big job?

The Soulster
One thing I would like to say.... In regards to your original post.....
If YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER then the question isn't stupid.... That is what the forum is for is to help people....
Since Paul has helped you on the first question, I will try and help you on the second....
Get the Messiah 2 mod chip....It is a internal mod chip and it is a JOB to install.... If you do not have OUSTANDING soldering skills, have someone do the install for you.... There are quite a few members of this forum that can do the job if you are not up to the task.... Where are you located at? This will determine who would be better suited to perform the install....
OH.... Welcome to the forum....:)
this is not a good forum...its the best period!
