one quick question

i have a magic3 installed on my v7 ps2. i have heard bad things about memorex media on ps2. well anyway i tried it out. it went passed the browers screen but then just stayed black.is it the media? Will verbatim media work(i am picking some up from r/s). Also my old ps1 backups work great that is what leads me rto believe it is the media

any help on the subject is oppreactied!
