if you have interfeared with a dvd laser assembly
it is unlikely to ever work again!

were you trying to boot dvd-r backups with an
action replay 2, if so it doesn't work (or at least
I have never managed to get it to work)

buy a swap magic 2, that works easily without
any need to insert an original dvd game. buy
one when you order your new laser assembly.

pjclark1 > As I replied to one of your previous posts the action replay 2 method WORKS flawlessly when correctly.

There are 3 reasons why it wouldn't.
1) You are trying the wrong boot method for the wrong version of action replay 2. Check out BG's boot post which covers how to do the swap on newer versions.

2) You are trying it on a version 7. The version 7 realises that a swap has been made regardless of which version action replay you use. (note, this only tested on no-solder mod. Not sure if same is true for 2.2 because anyone who puts a neo2.2 in a version 7 really needs help)

3)the TOC of the original game you are using is smaller than the game you are trying to boot.

Well excuse me? People who fire me like you just make me wonder why i bother.

Look, I devote a lot of time to these forums for what? Nothing. Just the pleasure of helping people out.

Now about your decision of modchip. The comment was refering to anyone who has a brand new version 7 machine. If you have then sorry but I personally would have readup first about which modchip to buy first as the neo2.2 even when installed perfectly will DAMAGE your laser within time. If you have a version 7 then i suggest getting the neo2.2 removed and getting a messiah 2 installed and paying for professional installation before the neo2.2 does some serious damage to your machine.

I have never once said i'm an expert and never come across as one. I have a passion which is playing games, now whenever the chance to backup my games collection comes along I follow all mods for not only personal reasons, but so i can help other people too.

I bought a neo2.2 when it first came out, look at my signature below. It was an error I made and thats why I'm trying to help you before your ps2 is rendered useless like my version 4.

I was hoping you would say that you havent used the 'disc cleaning solution' on your laser as if it is disc solution then it is designed for DISC's not LASERS.
Then we could have gone through basic stages onwards to find out where exactly the problem lies.

Please don't fire comments such as above at me as i find it insulting when my information is free, and i devoted time to you to help you out. Do you honestly think I couldn't find better things to do?

If you post an answer to my previous question then I will be more than happy to help you out. But please lost the attitude.

Enough said,
Jay

No data means that the PS2 has not seen the data groove on the disk. This can occur for any of the following non-exhaustive reasons:
The lens is dirty and insufficient light can get through
The lens mechanism/servo is damaged (unlikely in normal wear/tear
The oriange ribbon cable isn't properly seated or is damaged
Other ribbon cables might be damaged, nicked, broken, screw through
Mis-wiring of the NEO2.2

If tou have a 30001 with 8 screws it's a v4; else it's a v1, v2 or v3. All of these models were the target for Neo2.2.

There is the possibility that you have the Neo2.2 that puts out 5v through Pin 2 (SCEx); in this case it may have 'fried' your laser.
