During the summer I backed up some games my friend owned. This was done before I had a chip installed and I used CDR-win. When I finally tested them they would work in his system but not mine. All of my back-ups seem useless now. I was wondering if there was a way I could still salvage the data off the discs. The data has to be there since the games boot in my buddie's system. Does anyone know of a way? BTW: I'm using Clone CD now.
Do you have a different modchip than your mate. I found that when I upgraded from a Neo2.2 to a messiah a lot more of my back-ups worked.
If they worked on your mates fine themn that would suggest that they are good back-ups and that your mod or boot method is at fault, are they DVD or cd based games and what mod do you have????
Also what version of ps2 do you have as they have different laser settings and if you own an older PS2 and are trying to load up dvdr based games you might have to burn the games again onto better quality dvdr's or adjust the laser slightly to read them better.......................

If you make a backup of a faulty backup most of the time your new backup will work.
Tyler! ;)
If it was a faulty backup it wouldn't have worked on his mates PS2.............................

Remember I said "Here is a hint"! Not the exact problem or solution. If anything it may very well be like you said, that his laser is at a poorer setting than on his friends.
Another hint! Try putting your ps2 in a vertical position that makes the laser freefloating and allows it to get closer to the disc without the resistance of gravity.

Did you try cleaning the lens with a lens cleaning disk?

No I haven't cleaned the laser lens. I don't think it needs a cleaning since my Clone CD backups and everything else work fine. My buddy has a V3 PS2 while I have a V4 PS2 , otherwise we both have Magic 3 chips installed.
I tried making a backup of my original backup using clone CD but I had no luck with it.
