I have just bought a ps2, model no. scph39003,can anyone tell me what version is the mainboard & does the PnP Key Plus (v5,6,7) no-solder modchip work in this model.

u can get no solder mods for V7 - add to that the cost of a swap disc and u have almost paid for a no-swap mod including proffesional install!

I cant understand why peeps even consider disc swapping anymore

Cause swap magic boot cd is £20 & £10 for no-solder chip, £30 is below half price of a no-swap pro install.& the no-solder v7 chip is a piece of piss to install!

Yes mate it does work work. I've got same model with no solder mod and works fine.
Beware, not all games work on this mod, a select few refuse to boot using the Magic swap disks and because you have a version 7 you can't use the action replay swap to get around it. :(

Check my posts for one called Nosolder/magicswap/ver 7 or something like that. I've posted a list of games which I have tested with the same set up you're looking to get.

But if your looking for 100% Compatibility pay the extra for a messiah 2.
Then again, i'm assuming you have the originals of the games as well, so you can still use them;)

Even if you could get it to work and it being a piece of piss to insytall, there's not a lot you can do with it. You can't boot DVD game copies; you can't boot import originals; you cant boot DVD rips. Waste of half the price of a no swap solution.

Extra £30 then price for install. In my eyes it's an acceptable mod if funds not available and used only for 1:1 Backups. But it doesn't compare to messiah 2 for overall compatibility.

Also just checked my original air ranger 2 (jap ps2) on my v7 using swap magic 2.
It plays my original import of air ranger2 perfectly (something my neo2.2 doesnt do)

This is something i've never tried before and am suprised that the swap magic2 dvd disc is booting original import.

Message for Charlie_ps2 & BG (I know they of little interest to you but if you would like me to send you a set of the discs for testing then i'l happily do so as you have more than 1 import original. Please pm me if you are interested.

Just that I've always been lead to believe they didn't do original imports and even charlie_ps2 thinks they don't (as posted above)

nope dude, they don't. The swap magic set up is only really useful if you have 1:1 backups of your games.
