what games have the fade away protection thing
when you copy them?
is there anyplace where i can get patch for those games..
or see a list.. of those games that have that protection..
thnx!
No dvd based ps2 games have protection
Mike Tysons boxing HAS fade protection..... It is a dvd based game... As long as you make a DVD to DVD-R backup the fade protection will not bother it.... It will only affect it if you rip the game to cd-r...

Then you will have no problems.....
AND, I agree..... It is a piece of :o game!!!!!! LOL:D
I don't understand why they would make protection that doesnt affect a 1:1 copy but will affect a cdr rip?
I did a lot of reading up on fade protection when I bought operation flashpoint on pc this summer.
From what i can remember it works on your save games or something like that.
Until it hits the ps2 scene badly I'm not gonna worry about it. Although it will just be the same as medieval (Spelt wrong :p ) on ps1.
I think it was defiance that cracked fade protection originally so it's only a matter of time. And i guess dvd image will most likely be patched the same way as cd.
Either that or elby release a long awaited clone dvd :D
They do this because most new systems or most people now have a CD-RW in their system. They are aware that it is possible to rip games to CD-R so you can copy and play the game, however not everybody can afford a DVD-RW and most systems do not have a DVD-RW drive so they are not really concerned by this. That I would have thought would be the answer...
Yeh i understand that and that would be a obvious conclusion but I don't just see the overall logic behind it.
I know of usa games that even with a 1:1 copy the fade protection kicks in.
I'm just puzzled behind the programming to make it only work on rips. I'm not entirely sure that the original comment is correct.
What USA game do you know of that has fade protection, and when doing a 1:1 copy the fade protection kicks in?
As far as fade on Mike Tysons Boxing....... I have both..... The cd rip and a direct 1:1 dvd-r copy..... The DVD-R copy plays through the entire game no problem..... The cd rip won't make it.....

The problem is in the coding of the game. When you rip a game the files are saved with a new DATE on them. The game is set to look for changes in the DATE. When it finds a change, it is set to freeze or do some other interesting and problematic features in the games.
When making a 1-1 copy of a dvd game the DATES remain the same as when they were first made. So in effect the game doesnt know it is a copy.
Tyler!
Cheers Tyler!
Simple, yet effective reasoning! :D
Cheers again,
J
