Twice I tried to upgrade CloneCD from V4.1.0.1 to V4.2.0.2.

I downloaded the file and ran the executable, but when I clicked on the button to accept the default location for the install, I got a "Blue Screen of Death" with the message:

"Stop: c000026c {Unable to Load Device Driver}
\SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\ElbyCDFL.sys device driver could not be loaded
Error Status was 0x000012f"

I'm using Win2K Pro on a generic PII 450. Once I get the blue screen, the only thing I can do is power off, but then each time, when booting up, just after the Windows splash screen, I get the same blue screen, and have to power off. It won't go into safe mode and last known good configuration has no effect. The only way I was able to resolve the issue was to restore the disk image from an image file.

Any suggestions?

Try to get rid of any former version of clonecd (including the registry, there should be a tool for that, do a little search) then try again. I cannot guarentee that it works though.

Have you already contacted support or visited the cdfreaks forum ?

No, I haven't been to CDFreaks yet, but I'll give it a try, and Yes, I've sent a message to Elby support, but haven't received an answer yet. I thought I would try the forums while waiting for support to reply.

I was hesitant about removing CloneCD with the add/remove function, mostly because I use the downloaded version, paid for legally and all, but I'm not sure where the registration key is. I printed it out but can't find it. So I was afraid that if I uninstalled it, I wouldn't then be able to reinstall without that key.

By the way, if you use CloneCD, what version do you use and what operating system?
