View Full Version : MOHAA Spearhead start problem
My brother attempted to install Spearhead and can't seem to get the game to work...
This is the error that he gets:
GLimp_int() OPEN GL vendor is Null
I believe his card is a MX400 64mb (Asus 7100)
What is the most recent drivers for the card? ... or is it better to use the latest nvidia reference drivers?

Hey Zedy, let me add that I've been using the nVidia reference drivers for _years_ because I couldn't stand the extreme delay between releases of the generic Detonator drivers and the card-specific drivers.
I haven't had such major problems, as described above. Neither with the old Elsa Geforce 1, nor with the new ASUS Geforce 3. Especially, that _now_ nVidia also has reference drivers for the stereo glasses and the WDM capture device of deluxe cards, oh yeah!
All in all, I believe, there's some other reason for LBJGH's problem. Bye,
Joe

Yes, the manufacturer drivers do nothing more than use older drivers and add a little bitmap to the control panel. However in this case it may work because the newer 4x.xx drivers have a lot of problems and Asus probably uses the older, stabler 30.xx drivers. I'd recommend the 30.8x series reference drivers (30.82,30.87, 30.88) since they seem to be the last truly good drivers.

I always use the nVidia reference drivers. Had seven different nVidia cards in the various machines here and have never had a problem.
The 30.82 drivers are working fine. Perhaps with a GF4 TI4200-4600 the newer drivers may be the ticket but with the gf 2 and 3 stick with the tried and true 30.82 drivers.
It is so easy to update video drivers on on the LAN when you only need one driver file for all the machines (6).
