Is it really necessary to select record and verify?

I followed the instructions exactly and successfully copied GT3, but it took a long time.

no its not entirely necessary

you can just select record

the verify performs a further check of the dvd-r againt the original *.gi image

Yes, you can use Nero but it can have some problems with some games.

If you have got RecordNow Max and it is working I advise you to continue using that :)
