can anyone tell me plz if the magic 3 can play all ps2 backups and what is the difference if any to the messiah 2

Yes it can play all ps2 backups. The magic 3 is essentially a copy of the messiah 2. More people have been running into problems with the magic 3. Most problems with the messiah 2 are with v7s but this can be fixed.

i recently had a magic 3 put in my v4 ps2 and it wont play some of my backups that did work with my neo 2.2, i was told that it won't play patched games, am i being fobbed off
