what programs are you using?

I have stickied a post in this forum for tutorials on the better software, there is also tutorials for patching in the stickies.

sorry

i use cdrwin and i tried clonecd, neither program worked. i made a 1:1 copy of the game and i also tried patching it........i guess it was a pal version seeing how i live in a pal location.

cd burner - sony cd-rw crx1611

settings (both cdrwin and clonecd) -

reading options - raw
error recovery - ignore
jitter correction - auto
subcode analysis - auto
data and audio speed 1x

doesn't really matter what patches i used because the copy didn't work with them or without them.

i follow the instructions in the "idiots guide NTSC to PAL ppf"

when i scaned the bin file using pal4u2000 it said something like unknown data sectors or something like that.....probably apart of the problem but even when i applied a patch that i got of the net the game still didn't work.

i understand not to use clonecd for unprotected games and about patching games that dont need to patched but i wont set error recovery to abort

i've copied sorce cd's that have had hundreds of read errors on them and the games still work

reads errors can happen for lots of reasons not just beacuse the cd's stuffed......could be because its just dirty

i'm not sure what's wrong with the syphon filter 3 cd i've tried to copy, i've pretty much given up on that copy of the game but i'll find another one and give that a go.

thanks for everyone's help who responded to this posting

psx games should have NO READ ERRORS what so ever!
and if u dont clean your disks before copying them u deserve to get a bad burn!

Zedy and Djgarf clearly stated the facts, Error recovery should always be set to ABORT. You may have copied hundreds of games with read errors and the games load However what you probably have is a hundred crap backups that will fail somewhere in gameplay because of the errors. Check the original for finger prints or smudges before you copy them. If you get read errors after this then the game is damaged.
