Yes, it is possible.... Use the search button and search for "knife"... You will find the info that you seek there....
Oh, and by the way, if you do decide to play backups this way, buy yourself another PS2, so you will still have one when you break your first one...

By all means, buy a mod chip.... Its ALOT less expensive in the long run..

The price of PS2's are dropping a bit now, so you wont have to pay as much to replace your console when you screw it up using the knife method.
