PS2 V5 30003R.....and MESSIAH 2

Help please..
i tried to implement the colour fix by bridging the 2 pins together. The solder bridged 2 many pins, so i tried cleaning them all up. I think i have done this.....i cannot detect any shorts between pins. BUT now my ps2 displays in black & white, also it will now not play anything...i just get the no data message.

No DATA could be an improperly re-installed disk cable, particularly the orange one.

no luck...checked the cables...all seem ok. I did n't remove any when doing the colour fix anyway.

So it's solder balls somewhere. Big search to do.

the ps2 is my boys. i don't ever use it so it makes it hard for me to notice if something is or is n't happening as it should.
I have noticed that when i put a disc in I cannot hear the disc spinning, the screen displays no data and says ps2 in the top left of the screen no matter what type of disc I put in.

I did n't cut the track on the bottom of the m2 board...this did n't cause any problems for the first couple of days before i attempted the colour fix. could this be the problem? what does not cutting the track do?

I've told you what to look for. Solder balls. Messiah 2 won't disable the disk. No data is at the basic level where the PS2 is unable to see data from the disk.

Solder balls or a disk cable problem.

Thanks Charlie...
I am still in the process of checking for any solder balls. The above just occurred to me, so I thought I had better mention it in case it threw any light on the matter.

ok...the ps2 has now worked a couple of times...but it is intermittent...ie sometimes it plays the game or film..but other times the disc does n't spin and I get no data message.

So what was it?

one of the wires leading to the controller chip was getting caught by a screw used to hold down the metal shield.
