I have a version 7 ps2 with magic 3 chip installed but cant get dvd-rom backups to play (drive makes clicking sounds). i have been using nero to burn dvd+r backups and have tried dvd+r Datawrite and dvd+r verbatim disks but they wont play. If i backup the games onto a philips dvd+RW they play... Any suggestions??? P.S, using win XP, phillips dvdr228k drive.

TDK and Sony dvd+r seem to work well.

Bighap, What do you mean "check ps2 board"? the ps2 plays backups of ps1 games and all cd-rom ps2 games so the chip and board must be fine right???

There is TONS of info on the PS2 forum about this very subject....
1st thing is quit using Nero and use Primo DVD or RecordNow Max..

If you use Primo follow this tutorial: Primo Tutorial!!!! (http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39048)
If you use RecordNow Max follow this tutorial: RecordNow Max Tutorial!!!! (http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40148)

Also, burn at the slowest speed possible at first...
You may want to clean the laser of your PS2 also.. Get a cleaning disc (the ones with the little brushes on it) and use it once a week.. This will assure your laser is always clean...
