I want to get a Messiah 2 chip. I don't really want to risk killing my PS2 though! :)

What kind of places offer professional PS2 modding?

Hmmm...$40 or so seems a little much in my opinion, plus shipping. I know you need special soldering equipment, but could I pick this up at an electronic store like Radio Shack?

I'm not really worried about frying my board. I just don't know if I could take making those little connection for 2-3 hours (professional time)!

BELEIVE me...... $40 bucks is a GREAT price for installing the M2... Most people charge $50-$70 buck and even that is a AWESOME price.....
Its well worth the money to have someone else do it.....

(If you have ever seen a Messiah 2 in person, you would understand.... The chip itself is TINY (About the size of a Quarter.... Not to mention the points you need to solder to....If you would like to see a actual image of the chip, let me know and i'll send you a pic of mine beside a quarter)

BUT, if you must..... You can get all of the stuff needed at Radio Shack to do it yourself....

Good Luck!!!

I'm sure $40 is a good price. I just don't want pay $40. :p

I'm going to see how much Radio Shack sells this kind of soldering equipment for. If it's like $35 then I'll just get it professionally done. :)

At first I thought the chip was about 1.5 x 1 inches, but when I actually reduced the picture 8 times to the accurate size it was very, very small!

I guess I really want to do it myself, just to say that I can. And if I can't, then, hopefully the mod chip will still work!

I would be hoping that the PS2 still worked... Its ALOT cheaper to buy another Mod Chip than it is to buy another PS2.... :D

40 bucks is awesome. You must be tight on the $$$ not to wanna spend that much. I got mine chipped at modchips-usa. M3U, next day shipping back to me and installation was $196. I am very pleased with the results too.

Hmmm...well, I still have to look at the soldering stuff I'd need to do it. If it's like $35 then I'll just get it professionally done. I'll have to try seeing if I can poke things accurately with a toothpick too. :D

Geez, you'd have to have one heck of a stereoscope magnification and lighting setup to do that. On top of that, the PRECISION!!!!
