View Full Version : no solder mod and dvd rips
Yes I know, my mod chip sucks. I can't go buy me a new one until after Christmas(broke ass mofo).
Anyways, I just ordered some backups(of games I own of course)
and some of them are newer games, such as tony hawk 4, so I doubt that these have dvd rip kits yet. My no-solder will not boot gta3, tony hawk 4, some otheres that are all dvd rips.
My question is, has anyone had any success with these dvd rips with some of the no swap chips? And do you think that my chip is to blame, and the backups are fine?
Last question, I have all soldering equipment, have people had succes with magic 3 chip, or would you suggest another? Is the installation fairly easy(realize soldering, good chance to screw stuff up)?
Not sure about your rips. Ive got a dvd burner:) so i dont rip. Tyler can probably help you with this. There have been comlaints from people on this board with magic 3s. I'd stay away from it and get the mother of all chips...messiah 2:cool:

A no solder mod will not boot rips over 640mb, as long as it doesnt exceed this it will load fine.
If i were you i would buy the messiah2 from Charlie or Dust. It appears to be the better of the no swap chips. Installation can be a little hard but if you are good with a soldering iron and have patience it can be done. If not send it to bill at www.freedomlives.com or if in the UK Charlie or Dust can help with the install..... Good luck.

This is a HARD question to answer.... I have rips that boot perfectly on my system....
You could have multiple problems... Could be bad rips, could be size of rips..... Unless you know someone that has a modded PS2 that you can SEE.... You won't know for sure if the rips are good or not.... It could even be the media.....
