View Full Version : Ver 7 No Solder/Magicver2.0
Hi guys,
Recently did a nosolder on pal version 7 ps2. Chip works great and everythings fine apart from one problem
1) The original boot method is using the magic 2.0. Works great on all games apart from Britneys Dance (NOT MY GAME !!!! :) ) .....I know the backup is fine and media. I've heard of other people havin a similar prob. Why is this?
2) So i went out and bought a action replay 2 to use the method I use on neo2.2. (usual gta3 swap crap)......yet this doesn't work either. (Note, this method works fine on neo2.2) the action replay is a ver 2 but the dongle looks different to the one i used in my previous ver4 machine
Any help/ideas would be appreciated,
Cheers guys,
James
Are you talking about the "Swap Magic Boot Disc" ?
If so, I hate to tell you...... You are screwed.... There are quite a few games that these discs will not boot.... I have been seeing MORE & MORE posts about this same issue on other forums.....
Since you have the AR2... Try one of these and see if it will boot with your no-solder mod and the AR2 combo:
Booting a Playstation2 DVD (Silver or DVD-R) Gameshark 2 V1.99b and BELOW
Boot GS2 disc 1.
At the main screen, press the EJECT button to eject the CD tray.
Replace the GS2 disc with an original PS2 DVD game, such as Devil May Cry.
Close the CD tray (press EJECT again) and wait for about 30 seconds.
Select START GAME and then select WITHOUT CODES.
Once the GS2 is asking to change the game disc, press the EJECT button till the light changes from green to orange.
The CD tray will now open and you can replace the DVD game with your backup copy.
The CD tray will automatically close after about 5 seconds.
Wait till the the power LED changes from orange to green again and press X now to start the game.
Booting a Playstation2 DVD (Silver or DVD-R) Gameshark 2 V2.01 and ABOVE
Thanks to Nighstalker for this method!
Boot GS2 disc 1.
At the main screen, press the EJECT button to eject the CD tray.
Replace the GS2 disc with an original PS2 DVD game.
Close the CD tray (press EJECT again) and wait for 15 seconds.
Select gameshark codes and turn on or off any code on any game.
Press start, select with codes and press x to load game.
A black screen will appear saying "updating codes please wait"
Do the R-mod swap by pressing and holding eject, swap with backup, tray will close and game will load.
NOTE: The swap must be performed within the time you see the black screen.
Nighstalker has tested this method with GS2 v 2.01 through 2.11.
It works 100% of the time providing the backup is good.
Booting a Playstation2 CD (Silver or CD-R)
Boot GS2 disc 1.
At the main screen, select START GAME and then select WITHOUT CODES.
Once the GS2 is asking to change the game disc, press the EJECT button till the light changes from green to orange.

Wait till the the power LED changes from orange to green again and press X now to start the game.
Booting a Playstation 1 CD (Silver or CD-R)
Boot GS2 disc 2.
At the main screen, select START GAME and then select WITHOUT CODES.
Once the GS2 is asking to change the code archive, press the EJECT button till the light changes from green to orange.
The CD tray will now open and you can replace the CD with your backup copy.
The CD tray will automatically close after about 5 seconds.
Wait till the the power LED changes from orange to green again and press X now to start the game.
Thanks BG,
The action replay 2 (bought from HMV) is in a dvd case and the dongle is different to the one i had on my previous action replay 2. (i've no idea what version the current one is)
I've tried the boot methods you listed, including darkstalkers method but with no luck.
Am i right in saying if i get the old action replay 2 back that it should boot the games i'm having problems with?
Cheers in advance,
James
 I got curious so tested all of my personal collection of DVDr's (all 1:1) with Pal Version 7/No solder Mod and Magic swap boot disc.
If you want a machine which boot's everything with no worries then look at the messiah 2.
I am posting this as a reference to somebody who may find this useful.......Not in defence to the magic 2 boot disc.:p

I used a brand new action replay 2 (unsure of model> Dvd case version with cheaper looking dongle) and could not get any to boot using any methods  (Too many codes, nightstalker methods etc) ....which Work fine on my previous neo2.2.
Hope this comes in useful to someone,
James
sorry, they worked fine in my previous ver4 ps2 neo2.2 but not with the ver 7.
