Hey guys,

I recently purchased an Ace Key/Swap Magic set from videogamecompany.com (http://www.videogamecompany.com/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Mod_chips_and__PS2_Hacks_63.html) and installed it without a problem (hehe, well it is only 1 wire...!).

I have successfully used it to play 74min games with the Swap Magic disc no problems at all. However, as I have a number of 80min games also, when tried these do not work. After a little research and asking some friends, I was told that the Swap Magic discs won't boot 80min cds. Fair enough... off to get an AR2 I go.

Using the method described here (http://www.neoasic.com/acekey-op.htm) to boot games, I couldn't get ANY game to boot - nevermind 80min cds. After choosing Start Game -> Without Codes and switching the discs, the AR2 menu seems to lock up (note that its fine with the same procedure using a 'real' ps2 game) - I can still use the console however (e.g. open and close cd tray).

Also, psx games do NOT boot directly - I get the lovely red sreen 'insert a ps2/ps1 game' every time, and the Swap Magic won't boot ps1 games.

Anyone have any light to shed on these problems? I wouldn't think I screwed up the install, as Swap Magic works fine, and the solder points were clean etc.

I know I should have gotten an M chip, but since this was my first attempt I thought I would choose an easier option...

Thanks a lot for anything!

Also, this part of the 'instructions' -

Boot on PS2 and for a while the Main Menu will be appeared on monitor, at this time press "START GAME", and "WITHOUT CODE", after that pressing & holding Eject for one second, the tray will come out automatically. ( Reset & Eject light will flash about 5 seconds).

- if you hold the Eject for 1 second you get a NORMAL ejection - which will NOT close on its own, you have to hold it for longer surely...

Cheers :)

Sorry to say but you have a crap mod. They claim to boot PSX titles without swaping but i know of no one it works for. It really dont matter if you copy the games on a 74 min cdr or a 80. It wont boot a game that is over 640mb due to the TOC of the AR2 or GS2, the media doesnt matter. As long as you stick to direct backups and dont have to depend on rips it will be ok. If you ARE depending on ripping the dvd titles to cdr then you may want to get a different mod chip.

Thanks Warlock.

I couldn't find ANY info on this mod before I bought it, apart from whats on every site that sells them (and in this forum as a 'sticky') and not wanting to get down to a Messiah right away I opted for this one.

Well for now I will stick with it - it DOES boot games over 640mb using the Super/Swap Magic discs, but not over 700mb - and hopefully de-solder it and get an Apple/Messiah2/Magic II when I get round to finding the time to take a day soldering it!

Thx tho.
