I am helping my friend by trying to find out if its possible to burn and play PS2 games without a DVD burner. He has a modchip and a gameshark 2 for a boot CD. If it is possible to burn and play PS2 games without a DVD burner, please tell me how.

If it's a CD game based game then YES, use CloneCD with Audio, Data Subchannel ticked and Don't Repair Subchannel data ticked in the options prior to burning. However, you will have to check whether your burner is 100% compatible with program e.g. RAW-DAO, etc. DVD games need a DVD writer. If you have a DVD-ROM reader you could rip your DVD games using rip kits off the net and split them onto CDR discs, but that requires a little bit of skill and it's quite a long process. Look on the back at the bottom of the PS2 case and check whether the game is CD or DVD format.
