Spoke too soon, did everything as suggested on my last thread "PrimoDVD" got MGS2 to copy and burn without a hitch, (when copied to DVD-R) now I have copied GTA3 the PS2 gives me the choice of mem card or disc. If I choose disc then the PS2 reboots and I get the same screen (gets past the browser/config screen) anyone else had this issue and how do I overcome, Is it the disc or the PS2. This is starting to baffel me.....

Sounds like poor reading dvd-r. What brand are you using? Or your ps2 laser may be dying.

Try other ps2 dvd-r games that you have previously confirmed working and if they still work then your ps2 laser is fine.

As mentioned before in prev thread, new to this, MGS2 still plays fine, GTA3 just gets to a screen where there is a disc in the center, if I press X to continue it reboots showing the Playstation2 bootup screen and then back to the dics again, As to the type of media, don't know, any util I can d/l to check, I know that there is with CDR? could it be that I need to burn at single speed?

Doesnt your dvd-r have a lable of what brand it is? If not then you must have some very cheap media.

Try and reburn using better media. Like Verbatim dvd-r.

Most probably, bought 100 without cases, what do u recommend and where can I buy? but how is it that MGS2 plays OK?

With cheap media you get what you pay for. You can get a good burn but, most of the time your burns will not work. A ps2 needs good reflectivity for games to boot and run properly. So quality media is always a good idea.

I had already previously recommended Verbatim dvd-r as a very good brand.

Traxdata are great DVD-R too if you can get hold of them - and Datasafe for CD-R. They are the team which I use for backing up my PS2 games. Anyone else agree?

about 20 miles outside of Manchester. Cheers for the info on discs. I wasn't asking for the work to be done! I don't mind! just that alot of the stuff may come from outside the UK. Thought the idea of a forum was to help those that didn't know?

Thanks for the tips guys, anyone know of a place open Sundays near Manchester to buy some, I can get them online easy enough but could really do with some for tomorrow, Delivery times online vary from 2-5days to a week all about same price. will order some anyway but need a few to get me going.

There is a large computer fair on in an arena behind the trafford centre. I don't know what they call it but I'm sure you know where I am talking about. You can get absolutely everything from CD to DVD-R and cheap CD and DVD Rewriters too. There are even numerous stalls to get your consoles chipped too. It's great!
