Hey there,
my question: does the no solder mod chip (PNP Key) work on all CD-R ripped games?
I am new to the PS2 scene and just got a no solder mod chip.
I installed it easily enuf, and then tried it out with the GS. The first few games I tried worked fine with the swap trick, but then a bunch of others didn't. I did some research adn found a page that said that the no solder mod chip (PNP key) doesn't support 80 minute cd-Rs.
So I cursed myself for not getting a better chip. Then I noticed that some of the games that do work are 80 minute cd-R rips.
WHAT WORKS: (80 minute CD-R rips)
Virtua Fighter 4
Tekken 4
What Doesn't: (also 80 minute CD-R rips)
X Men: New Dimensions
Tony Hawk 4
I don't have a friend with a modded PS2 to try my cd-r's out on but i am pretty sure that they are good burns. I made them using a recent version of NERO (2 months old) on 16 X speed.
Should I try using clone CD and do it at 1X speed? Is that really going to make a difference? I have heard that many times before for DC and PC games and have never done it and have never had a coaster.
anyways I really appreciate anyone helping me!
