View Full Version : Pool of Radiance 2 1.4 No-CD does not work for me...
I apply the no-cd patch, and it says that the patch is successful. However, when I try to run the game, I get an error (no message) that freezes the program. I tried running it from pool II and por2main, got the same results.
Might be a Windows XP problem...changed my compatibility mode to Windows 98, and it still happens.
Anyone have a different crack?
NO ANSWER? I swear I had a working one at one time! Anyone know why it's not here anymore?

Is it the exact same crack that you've succesfully cracked with, or is it another one ? Begin with trying to run the game after a fresh reinstall from the original discs, without applying any cracks and see if maybe it's XP that's the problem. If that isn't the problem, have you tried both 1.4 cracks here (http://spacetarget.com/gcw/games/pc_pool_of_radiance_2.shtml) ?
I only see one 1.4 crack. The install is also fresh.
I am pretty sure the crack I just tried to use is different from what I have used in the past.

Alright, Dr. Apocalypse's was the one I had previously used.
Thanks. Heh...

Thanks. Heh... I already noticed that the FBSA crack was only 1 kb. For a patch, that's usually too few bytes to also incorporate some checks to see if you try to apply it on the right version of executable, so if this was the faulty patch you tried, it's no wonder it didn't say anything about a wrong version. I much prefer patch makers to incorporate some checks to see if the user tries to apply it on the right executable, because with patching one byte on the wrong place can crash your game :D
