Just thought you should update the boot procedures for the dvd-r backups, None of the dvdr boot procedures you have listed for the no solder mods or the neo2.2's will work with AR2 or GS2 versions 2+. It only works with v1.99b or older. Alot of newbies may have problems booting backups as 1.93 and 1.99b are no longer in stores.....BTW great post :)

I have AR2 version 1.71. Do you know which method I need to use to boot a DVD backup?

That depends on which mod chip you are using....?

It's a Neo Key v2.2 I think.

Check the pics in the mod chip boot procedure sticky and see if any of them look like yours.... http://www.fileforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38232
And see if any of the boot procedures will work for you...

To boot DVD-R (only) with AR2,GS2 v2+ and a neo2.2.
Insert gs2, power down console, wait 5 sec, restart console by pressing and holding reset, dont let go. After GS2 completely loads swap with original dvd game.(hi TOC), Wait about 15 sec and select Gameshark codes (or ar2 codes) and turn on or off any code on any game. Press start, select with codes and press x to load game. You will see a black screen saying "updating codes please wait" at this time release the reset button, tray will eject, swap with backup, tray closes and game loads.
For a no-solder.
load GS2, once loaded swap with a original dvd game, wait 15 sec, select gameshark codes and turn on or off any code on any game, Press start, select with codes and press x to load game, black screen will appear saying "updating codes please wait" do the R-mod swap by pressing and holding eject, swap with backup, tray will close and game will load.
The swap must be preformed time you see the black screen.I have tested this method with GS2 v 2.01 through 2.11. It works 100% of the time providing the backup is good.

I've tried this method guys but still can't get my backups to worrk. With my AR2 I don't get a black screen saying updating codes I get a blue screen saying 'Saving Changes Please Wait' & then once it has saved the changes a screen which says press x to continue. Once I press X the screen goes black but the games don't boot. I tried swapping the original dvd with a backup when the message 'Saving Changes Please Wait' & also when the black screen comes up with no success. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

as far as i can remember (i could b wrong)

neo2 to boot dvd needs ar1.9 or avove
neo to bbot dvd needs gs1.7 or above

dont forget the toc of the origanal must b bigger then the backup

I got DVD backups to work...

Boot up PS2 with AR2 inside...
At main menu, swap AR2 with an original DVD game...
Select cheat codes...
Select any game...
Turn on or off any code...
Press start...
Choose WITHOUT codes...
At "updating codes" screen, press and hold EJECT for 1 second...
Swap Original DVD with backup DVD...
Game will load.

This is using AR2 V2 with Ace Key.

Sorry guys I'm a newbie to this - what do you mean when you say Hi-Toc?

BG
03-11-2002, 06:43
TOC = Table Of Contents

In easy terms: The size of the original game MUST be LARGER than the backup you are trying to play.

Would Final Fantasy X have a high TOC?

DMC or DMC demo seems to be the DVD original most people use.
