i recently purchased some maxell 700mb 48x cdrs
the only reason i bought them is cuz i was satisfied with their cdrws that i bought and that after a mail-in rebate they were only 4 bucks for a 50 cd spindle

i ran cd-r identifier on them for curiosity and it stated Ritek Co.
and after reading an article on this site i believed they were garbage

i sent maxell this letter

Subject: Ritek CDS are labeled Maxell

Dear Maxell,
I recently purchased some Maxell Cd-rs (50PK Spindle 700/80Min 48x)
I ran CDRIdentifier on them just for curiosity and it told me they were
manufactured by Ritek
I tried this program on a vairety of other CD-Rs to see if the program had
a
bug
I tried a Verbatim it told me mitsubishi which i think owns verbatim

are these ritek manufactured cds as good as other ones
from what i hear they aren't very good

I'd appreciate if you would answer my question

Maxell Customer,

Thank you for contacting Maxell.

Ritek is the stamper, that's why their name appears on the disc when running CD-R Identifier.
These discs are made to our specifications, using our materials and our quality standards.

Again, thank you for contacting Maxell Technical Support.

RiTEK have improved their media over the last three years or so. The CDRMediaWorld site is not up-to-date, and therefore the results should not be relied upon.

For more up-to-date reports on the quality of CD-Rs go to the CD-R/RW media forum at:
